Coal Ridge High School Clubs and Activities
Fly Fishing Club
The Fly Fishing Club at Coal Ridge High School works to educate students about their local watershed, entomology, knot tying, casting techniques, and ethical fishing practices. Students will learn to fish local fishing spots including the Colorado River, Roaring Fork River, and the Frying Pan River by going on once a month trips. No prior background knowledge or gear is necessary to join this club.
Climbing Club
The “Climbing Club”, is designed to engage students in outdoor adventure activities promoting outdoor experiences throughout middle school and high school. Some conceptual focuses include: overcoming predisposed fear, leave no trace visitation of wilderness, nature conservation, and positive self-advocacy. All students are welcome to join. Club members will also compete in the Colorado High School Climbing League, Western Slope Division.
Ski & Ride Club
"Ski and Ride Club provides a forum for Coal Ridge's steezers and steezettes to share sendy times in the snow at mountains all across the state."
Mountain Bike Club
Coal Ridge High School collaborates with the Glenwood Springs Dirt Demons to compete state-wide.
Book Club
CRHS book club is a great opportunity to find your love of reading(again). By reading a different genre every month students expand their reading selection which , hopefully, continues throughout their adult life. Student/teacher discussions allow each reader to see the story in a different way that they may have missed. Students keep the books and therefore read them multiple times and also lend them to family and friends which leads to even further discussion that gets brought back to the group. Imaginations grow and change due to reading with no expectations.
Rodeo Club
The Coal Ride High School Rodeo Club is open to all students with an interest in the sport of Rodeo. The club promotes the sport of Rodeo, our western heritage and lifestyle, and provides students with educational experiences and opportunities to become active leaders in our community. From classroom to short rides to full out rodeos and events, the club is a great experience for all.
