Make A Wish Week
Coal Ridge High School put on a show-stopping "Wish Week" to support Make-A-Wish Colorado. The star of the show was Asher, an incredible young hero fighting a brain tumor. His second-grade class and family joined forces with the district to make his dream come true - a trip to Walt Disney World Resort in 2022! Read more about Asher's story here.
The fundraising events were hotter than a fresh batch of cookies, with students donning their finest hats, the Girls Basketball players getting whip cream pies in their faces, Boys Basketball getting silly stringed, Mr. Batson getting slimed and students dumping icy water on the athletic director's head! The result? An incredible $9,800 raised for Make-A-Wish Colorado! With the culminating event being a semi-formal dance, including Asher as the guest of honor.
The Kids For Wish Kids program from Make-A-Wish Colorado empowers young students to lead fundraising efforts and make wishes come true for sick children. This Wish Week was a perfect example of students flexing their communication and leadership skills and making a positive impact in their community. And the cherry on top? The whole event was planned and executed by the students themselves, with the Coal Ridge Student Council advisors lending a hand.
